Good morning. We woke up to find out that our dispenser is broken and the water was leaking overnight. As per our daily routine, we got ourselves nasi goreng (to have for lunch - we don't mind eating it after an hour or two because the weather is so hot, leaving it in the sun is pretty much keeping it warm) and we baked in the sun at Bali Mandala. I continued reading Hotel K, they're talking about dealing drugs in the jail. The convicts lives on drugs to get by the time in jail. Most of them are users and dealers. It's surprisingly interesting that the drug business in jail is booming more than on the streets. They even have customers from outside buying drugs from the jail. Guards are paid to deliver the drugs to the outside customers. Life In Hotel K is not too bad if you have money (as quoted by fellow convicts).
We played two games with the class today - chinese whispers and celebrity heads. I was laughing hysterically when we played chinese whispers. Poor Julia copped every bit of my laugh every time I had to pass on the message to her. The words and sentences that we ended up with made no sense and some of them even ended up being Balinese words. It was a very fun lesson and the students had a great time.
Everyday as we walk home from school, we see kids playing football ('soccer') on the field or random kids just hanging in the bush. Some of them requests to have their photo taken which I find very cute. Arriving back at home, we chilled out in the courtyard until it was dinner time. The palm trees are so pretty and there are so many around. The one thing we have to be careful about when walking through the 'jungle' are the falling coconuts. They drop randomly. Thankfully I haven't had one of those hit my head. Balinese people are pretty lucky to have so many coconut trees around, they save money on buying it.
We went to our favourite warung got dinner - I had the mi goreng and my favourite dish of them all - fu yung hai. We had completely forgotten to stock up on water, I was so thirsty I drank out of the pot that is sitting under our dispenser. Our dispenser is still broken, we have notified Sandra but nothing has been done about it yet. These water gallons are provided for us - free of charge. The girls and I go through so much water that we have the gallons changed on a daily basis. It is incredibly hot in Bali - so I am consuming approximately 3-4 litres a day. Back at home, I'm lucky to have 600ml. However, it's a good thing that I am drinking this much water. My body really needs it considering how much I sweat in a day. Christina and I worked on our blogs in our mosquito net protected beds. We have a huge mosquito problem at our place - even with aeroguard, I still wake up bit many bites. They are so annoying.
Good night world.
XOXO
