The day has finally come, we are leaving Bali. Julia and Christina shed a few tears as they have had such a close relationship since arriving in Bali. If I hadn't known, I would of guessed that the two knew each other before they got to Bali. They clicked so well - just like soul sisters. We gave each other long hugs and said good bye so many times. They and the villagers watched us lug our luggages out to the car. It's so hard to say goodbye, it really is. This is the worst part about travelling.
After a 3 hour of a bumpy and windy drive, we arrived at Denpasar International Airport. We stopped by Starbucks for a quick real coffee. It's been a long time since I had coffee, so it was so nice to enjoy a Starbucks coffee.
Before checking in, we decided to have brunch - this is officially our last Balinese meal. We chose a random restaurant and looked at the menu, it took us a while to decide because there were so many choices. I went for the chicken stirfry with cashew nuts and Christina had her favourite - nasi goreng. The food was delicious and I am glad that our last meal in Bali was so good. We even ordered fresh watermelon shakes - it was very refreshing and extremely tasty.
Christina is off to her next project in Hoi An - Vietnam and I am going to Nepal. However, I had to stop over in Singapore for a night before taking another flight to Nepal the next day. Coincidently, Christina and I had the same flight to Singapore, so we didn't officially have to say good bye yet. When I booked my flight, I had already chosen my seats so we didn't sit together on the plane which was a bummer. Selamut Tinggal (Bye) Bali. I have had a wonderful stay and will definitely return one day. There is still so much of Bali I want to see.
When we got to Singapore airport, Christina and I hugged each other for so long before going separate ways. It was so sad to say goodbye. Even at such an emotional moment, Christina still managed to crack one last joke. I am really going to miss all the fun and laughter but I am glad that we are taking away so much fond memories with us. I am just so grateful to have met Christina and Julia - two beautiful souls. Two girls that I felt so comfortable around instantly, as though we have been friends forever. They definitely made my stay in Bondalem an awesome one.
Hello Singapore. I am back. I booked a hotel nearby Clarke Quay. Just a cute little 2 star hotel called Le Hotel. It is a fairly new hotel as it was very modern. I checked in and went out to get myself a Singaporean sim card. I chilled in the hotel for a while before getting ready to go out for a night of drinks and dancing.
My dear friend Marrie mentioned that she has a really good friend - Catherine, who is now living and working in Singapore and suggested that I should meet up with her. Seeing that I am alone in Singapore and I know no one, I didn't mind making a new friend. I met Catherine at a rooftop bar called Kinky. The view was breathtaking from up there. We had a clear view of Marina Bay Sands. I'm glad I had met up with Catherine, I wouldn't of known where to go if I had to explore Singapore alone. We chilled out there for a bit and then made our way to grab a bite.
Catherine was catching up with her good friend also ex flatmate. Adama is her name. A lovely girl from France also living and working in Singapore.
The girls took me a food court market where you get a variety of different cuisines. Seeing that I have been craving for vietnamese for a while I ordered myself a bowl of bun cha bio (vermicelli and spring rolls). I've had better, but it wasn't too bad. In this large food court, they had a live band playing which was pretty cool.
The girls told me that they don't go to Clarke Quay as much as it was more of a touristy place. They took me to Club Street, where there are a lot of different bars sitting side by side each other. We went to Barrio Chino (means Chinese district in Spanish). Though the name of this bar means "Chinese district", this is far from a Chinese bar. Barrio Chino is an extremely cool and cosmopolitan place to meet and hang out. Many expats hangs out here. With pleasant hues of brown and yellow on the walls, and a diverse music selection in the background (live band), this is a bar that is great for tequilas and jagerbombs.
I met Catherine's boyfriend who is French, Flo and his friends. Such a lovely and extremely funny crowd - Safa in particular. Safa is Catherine's work colleague and they have a wonderful relationship. We spent some part of the night standing outside in front of the streets, drinking, smoking, talking and laughing. Had a few rounds of tequila shots and jagerbombs.
Our next stop was Screening Room - a roof top bar located on the 5th floor just 50 meters or so from Barrio Chino. The view up to the surrounding skyscrapers and bustling streets in the heart of Chinatown is great. Being a little tipsy, the shot of the view didn't turn out properly on my camera. We had more tequila shots and even got a free round from the bartender which was really nice of him. It was such a great night meeting these new party people. We had many laughter and definitely one too many drinks. Everyone was intoxicated. Seeing that I had an early flight in the morning, I had to disappointedly end my night quite early. I am glad I met these friends, the next time I'm in Singapore I'm calling these party people out. Such great people to be around with and they made me feel very comfortable.
My flight is at 7am in the morning. I must go to bed.
Good night world.
XOXO
