Day 18 - Bali : Relaxation...

Good morning girls. It is very cute that these girls come past on a daily basis and hang in our courtyard. The little girl with the short hair is very shy to even say hello, she only waves or smiles. The girl in the red dress, says "hello, how are you?" every day. She says it every single time she walks past our place (possibly about 5-6 times a day). It is sometimes rather exhausting greeting and answering the same questions over and over again, but you can't really blame them as they only have a few words in their english vocabulary. Our plan today is to go to the Bali Mandala Resort again to swim and sun bake. We needed to grab some lunch, so we went to the warung and got a nasi goreng each. hmmm. Cant wait to devour into it.

It's another warm day in Bondalem. We had a dip in the pool and spent most of our day sun baking. The girls are I are all working on our tans.

Seeing that it is such a warm day, we treated ourselves to a nice cold drink from the Mandala Lounge. They only serve healing drinks here so I had the Papaya Pineapple Frappe which is supposedly to improve body circulation. I hope it works. The frappe was really refreshing and very satisfying.

We continued chilling out after our drinks. Julia worked on her journal, she has 4 weeks of experiences to write about. Christina and I gave her the idea that she should write about this trip as it will be nice to read back on it later on. Christina and I both have blogs. We saw two young boys in the middle of sea fishing - I had to capture a photo, I don't see that happen very often. They seemed like mini professionals.

On Thursdays we start teaching at 3pm and we only have one class, so the one class is relatively longer - 1.5hrs. Rocking up to class today to find that there are only 4 students who turned up seemed rather strange, I wonder where the rest of the kids are - they must be having a party that we're not invited to. haha. Today, we are learning about auxiliary verbs. It is known that the kids have troubles applying the correct auxiliary verb to sentences. We gave them a list of possibilities such as [don't, am, is, do, does, are] and they were to fill in the blanks in the sentences. Each of the students came up to the whiteboard and filled in the blanks. Thursday classes consists of the older kids so their English level is at a higher level, they all did really well. Although, there were only 4 kids today; I found it to be a little more easier to teach as they were all contained and were able to concentrate on the subject a little more than usual. It was lovely and intimate.

After school, we went back to the Bali Mandala Resort as we all needed a massage to help relax and unwind. At the time there were only two masseuse available and so Christina opted out. Julia chose the aromatherapy massage and I chose the Balinese massage. It's been weeks since travelling and today will be the first massage I treat myself to. Sleeping on a crappy bed with a not-so-great pillow really caused a lot of tension to my neck and shoulders in particular. Walking into the massage room sent a great vibe of peace and serenity. Hearing the music and smelling the different oils had already made me feel slightly relaxed. We had the option of choosing our preferred scented massage oil. I went for the frangipani scent. It was such a beautiful massage room, it felt like I was in a tropical forest - paradise. The Balinese massage techniques are gentle and aim to make you feel relaxed and calm throughout. The techniques include skin folding, kneading, stroking and other techniques. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep during the hour. The masseuse was great, she was able to locate all my knots and spasms in my muscles and released tension from these areas. I was definitely in a happy place.

After our massages, we met with Christina and all watched the sun set. There are so many things that can leave someone breathless - this view was one of them for me. The beautiful yellow, orange, blue colours in the sky with the palm trees acting as a silhouettes and the boats in the sea floating so peacefully was just breathtaking. A sun set can pretty much enhance any view - I'd say. But, it was definitely very nice to witness this one.

We went back home and hung out for a bit. We sat and chatted and laughed for a while before our growling tummies were calling us. We bought our dinner from Sandra's mother in law's warung - it was advised that she will charge us at a cheaper price. Julia introduced me to a new dish today - soto ayam. Soto ayam is a yellow spicy chicken soup with mixed vegetables and vermicelli or noodles. The ingredients includes slice of fried potatoes, chinese celery leaves and fried shallots. My soto ayam was teamed up with my daily usual - nasi goreng. This is the first time I'm trying Sandra's mother in law's nasi goreng and it was so delicious. There is an ingredient that she uses (I can't figure out what it is) but its a very interesting taste - and the great thing is that she actually cooks in spicy. Spicy enough to satisfy my tastebuds. On the way back home, our neighbour had just finished making her infamous sweet cakes so we bought some for dessert. I was really stuffed from such a satisfying dinner, that I only had one of the cakes - my favourite one - the pumpkin cake.

After dinner, we all went separate ways and jumped on our laptops to do our own things. I worked on my blog as always. I am still trying to get motivated to catch up. It has been an extremely relaxing day for me, the massage really helped.

Good night world.
XOXO
