Day 8 - Hong Kong : Big Buddha

After such a lovely sleep we had on Sunday, I met up with Belle and her family in Tung Chung. We went to see the big buddha today because Belle has never been and her mum refused to go with her (being a christian). Anyway, I met Belle's mum and auntie. OMG they are such funny characters and provided us with such great entertainment. They are surely one funny family. I was very happy to be around them. Belle's auntie lives in Tung Chung in Hong Kong. After seeing the big buddha, auntie suggested we stop by for some dessert. We dropped in a local outdoor seating kind of eatery and had dessert. I had the tofu pudding (dau fu fa) and it was amazingly soft and tasty. They use a different type of sugar syrup here in Hong Kong - very different to what we have back in Australia. All I have to say is that it is definitely a lot cheaper and softer here in Hong Kong. The only thing I didn't like about this place, was the cat. If you know Sandi really well, you would know that she is petrified of cats. I honestly can say, I nearly flipped the table. Eeeeeeeeeekkkkkk..... We caught the cable car back to Tung Chung MTR station. It was beautiful as we watch the sun set.

When we got back to Tung Chung, auntie took us to the local 'market'. Man, it was pretty crazy in there. But it was a great experience. I've always seen these places in chinese movies and I was really excited to actually be in a market. I had dumplings and it was deliciously cheap. This was only a snack :).

It's nice to hang out with locals as it is guaranteed that you will be taken to only the best restaurants in town. Boy, this was a massive feast that we had out in the streets of Tung Chung. The food was great but Belle's family over ordered - it was so crazy. Just looking at the food made my tummy twirl. Dinner was accompanied with many bottles of beer and boy was Belle's auntie drunk (although she tells me she is a hectic drinker). hehe. Very cute.

On the way back home to Belle's aunt place, which is only a few minutes away from the restaurant - Belle's aunt started to do the cha cha on the walkway, where other people wanting to get through actually stopped and waited. It was absolutely adorable. She was honestly close to being wasted. :) I never had that much laughter during a day, to the point where you're crying and you're tummy is aching constantly. I definitely worked out the abs today. I'm looking forward to spending tomorrow with Belle and her family again tomorrow. We are off to Macau in the morning. Wish us luck at the casinos :) if I win, I could possibly not return to Australia for a while.

Good night world.
XOXO
